Bonner Bridge Pier, Cape Hatteras National Seashore, Rodanthe,

Outer Banks, North Carolina

August 2023

Address: I used Google Maps to get to Bonner Bridge Pier off of Route 12, north of Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center.

Parking: Paved, Room for 20+ cars or trailers

86 degrees at 11:27-11:44 AM, sunny

Portable toilets available at the edge of the parking area

The pier is free.

No pets allowed at this area.

The pier is a flat, concrete pier that reaches out for approximately .5 mile. While on it, looking back I could see the Oregon Inlet Life Saving Station. There is a .25 mile sandy trail to a little beach; that walk would not be stroller or wheelchair friendly.

A stroller or wheelchair could navigate the concrete pier.

The pier was populated with many people who were fishing.  Some had family with them.

There was no shade, as one would expect, on a pier.

I did not see any trash.

I was not troubled with mosquitos here.

This is an area where shorts would not be a problem.

I saw grasses and flowers.
