Erlandson Overlook Park

Visited June 24, 2022

Park Entrance: I used Google Maps: Erlandson Overview Park, 465 Oak Hill Road, Frewsburg, NY 14738

80 degrees Fahrenheit, little to no breeze. 4:55- 5:58 PM

One-room restroom facilities are available. Glorified porta potties but clean.

There is no admission fee.

No signs forbidding dogs. Please be sure to pick up after your four-legged friends.

The trail is well marked. The signs state that the loop is 1.2 miles but with my exploring and looking for geocaches, I logged 1.9 miles. My husband and I hiked this as a celebration of the last day of school. The trail had been mowed so it is wide enough for two people to walk side by side for most of the trail. It is not a flat trail but there was only one notable incline and it was not lengthy. There were benches and "you are here maps" along the path at regular intervals. Future visitors will benefit from the ripening blackberries; be sure to save a few for the birds and wild creatures.

The trail is natural surface. We have had no rain for about a week so there was no mud on the trail.

A stroller might be able to navigate this trail, depending on its tires and balance.

We did not see any people on the trail. We did see people enjoying the picnic pavilion though.

The only trash was a wrapper and water bottle top that probably blew from the pavilion on a windy day.

The mosquitos were determined today and did not care that I had on long pants, a hat, t-shirt, and bug spray.

Parking: Paved. Two lots. Room for more than 10 vehicles.

I saw robins, and I heard other songbirds. I saw a chipmunk rustling in the leaves. There were mosses, daisies, mayapple, buttercups, wild geranium, blackberries, and a variety of tree species including shagbark hickory, oaks and maples.

The trail has geocaches near it. To learn more about geocaching, visit www.geocaching.com.

Frewsburger Pizza (Less than 10 minute drive away) West Main Street, Frewsburg, NY

Always polite service every time we have been there for sit down or pick up service. The white pizza is extra cheesy even without paying for extra cheese. Order online and your order will be ready when you arrive.

The parking loop. The toilets, pavilion, and one of the trail entrances is to the front right.

Toilets, trash, and one of many benches

View from one of two viewing platforms which have informational signage. The birds clearly like using them.

One view from under the pavilion

These "You are here" maps are found throughout the trail.

Lovely mowed trails

Many benches and picnic tables along the way.

The "Lake View" has two picnic tables and grills. It is near the the other trail entrance I marked on the map above.

The trail continues to the right of this picnic table.

Lucky hikers will find these ripening later this summer.
