Loomis Goose Creek Wetland Preserve, Ashville, NY

Address: I used Google Maps to get to Loomis Goose Creek Wetland Preserve.  The address is: 2484 West Lake Road, Ashville, NY. I have passed this on numerouse days when I did not have a chance to stop so I was thrilled to be able to explore.

Parking: Room for 4+ cars depending on how they park, dirt parking

No Public restroom facilities available

The trail is free.

I did not see signage regarding dogs, but Wesley stayed home.  Typically, I assume dogs are not allowed at preserves.

The trail is a natural surface and mostly level.  

I walked .51 miles total to where the trail seemed to disappear and then returning to my car. I did not explore further trying to find the trail because my experience at Letchworth last week is still fresh in my mind.

A stroller would probably navigate this trail without too much trouble if the wheels were not too small and if it is not used beyond the boat/kayak access point.  There were trees down past this point.

I had the trail to myself except for the mosquitos that were enjoying the muggy weather of the past few days.  There was some noise from the nearby road.  The trail has some sections of full sun and some shaded sections.  There were some muddy areas but not as bad as I expected due to recent rains.

Regarding litter, I saw two plastic bottles. 

The mosquitos were hungry today.

I wore long pants and was glad for it, especially past the boat access point.

There is poison ivy and Virginia creeper at the edge of the trail.

I had a brief glimpse through the tree cover of an osprey flying overhead and calling (see more about that in the link below.). I saw a grasshopper, ferns, teasel, plantain, wild grape, and a variety of tree species including maple and shagbark.
