Indianapolis Downtown & Monument Circle Historic District Walking Tours

Indianapolis, Indiana: Walking Tours by Indiana Landmarks  

Both tours began at the Indianapolis Convention Center as events I selected through my Gen Con badge.

68-80s degrees Fahrenheit, mix of cloudy and full sun 8:00 AM - 9:30 AM & 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM

Restroom facilities were available in the Indianapolis Convention Center.

Wesley did not go to Gen Con with us so I did not check on whether Indiana Landmarks allows dogs on their walking tours.  

I walked almost 2 miles for the first walk and approximately one mile for the monuments walk. So I tried something rather rare in my experience.  I signed up for walking tours in a city I was visiting.  It was a great way to learn about the area and during my future travels, I may do this rather than doing one of my solo walks.  

Most of the walking was on sidewalks.  

The volunteer docents shared interesting information and safely led us through the city, its construction zones, and crosswalks.

Parking: There are parking garages near the Indianapolis Convention Center.

I did not see any trash in the areas we walked.

I was not bothered by mosquitos.

I saw a variety of architecture and monuments.

The event that brought me to Indianapolis: Gen Con | Gen Con Indy 2026 

One of the restaurants I passed on the walk and then ate at that night was Weber Grille.  Their service was pleasant and efficient.  The pretzel rolls, steak, and fries were great.  Best Indianapolis Restaurant for Group Dining | Offering Private Dining, Catering, On Site Grilling & Happy Hour | Weber Grill Restaurant
