I used Google Maps to go to Goodell Gardens & Homestead, Waterford Street #6N, Edinboro, Pennsylvania
Parking: Two gravel lots for 10+ vehicles each, plus additional event parking space ina mowed field.
64 degrees Fahrenheit during a break from the rain 11:30 AM to around 3:00 PM
The bathroom building was locked, but there was a porta potty available.
There is no admission fee
Stated as open at 11 AM on Sundays, the visitor center was closed.
Wesley was not with me, signs indicated limitations on dogs' attendance. They are allowed on paths if leashed and they are not to be left in vehicles.
An all-terrain stroller could probably navigate the gravel paths, the mowed paths, and probably even the wooded path.
My friend and I walked for about 1.6 miles on the pasture and wooded trails behind the barn, and enjoyed a picnic at a table near the viewing platform, then we explored the paths near the Welcome Center. Our time enjoying the site and visiting was about three and a half hours. The gardens showed signs of being amazing during the spring and summer months; even with the overcast day, the site was beautiful on this autumn day. The walk felt level but my GPS declared 141 feet of total ascent and total descent of 89 feet. I am so glad we brought a picnic and the rain took a break while we were there; so often on my explorations, I come upon a picnic table in a scenic setting but either the area is overrun with evil mosquitos or I have not packed a picnic. Today, I did not have to pass by the picnic table. Despite the noise of traffic from the nearby roads, this was a peaceful place and a perfect place for friends to visit.
There was some poison ivy on the wooded path.
We saw a few people coming and going from the parking areas.
I saw one piece of trash near the party tent and parking area.
The mosquitos did not bother me in my rain coat on this cool, autumn day.
We saw mallard ducks. There were black-eyed Susan, Queen Anne's lace, burdock, thistle, rhododendren, a variety of tree species including apple trees, maple trees, and huge, gorgeous oak trees.
