Even without the map linked below, walking and navigating the paved roadways after parking near the Sa-Sa-Na memorial are enjoyable.
While keeping ears and eyes open for any other vehicles, we were able to walk side by side on the paved roadways.
Strollers could navigate the paved roadways.
We saw a variety of plants and trees. The cemetery is built on a hillside so there was very little opportunity for walking on a level area. This was a very enjoyable place to explore for ages 7 to 55.
There is a trail head near the Sa-Sa-Memorial, however it was closed when we arrived. We assumed the recent windstorms caused many dangerous suspended tree branches such as ones we could see near the entrance. The views over Owego were amazing to see from the memorial. Since our plans to hike the trail were scuppered, my husband and I introduced our young family member to geocaching. We have not been geocaching in ages, and we enjoyed our return to this pasttime. Walking the paved roadways was a nice re-introduction to walking after my surgery. Since it has been months and months since my last update to this website, I forgot my Garmin to map the trail, I forgot to take many of the pictures I usually take (the trail closed sign comes to mind), and I forgot to note the mileage of the walking we did.
I did not see any poison ivy at the cemetery.
We only saw one truck sharing the parking area when we returned to the vehicle and we had a runner pass us while we were exploring.
I did not see any trash.
The mosquitos were not a bother with the current temps.
Parking: Gravel lot with room for 8+ vehicles.
I heard birds and enjoyed being out in the sunshine. There were mosses, fungi, mullien, and a variety of tree species.
