Address: I used Google Maps to get to Point Gratiot Beach, Dunkirk, NY. We parked near the playground and brick picnic shelter that includes public toilets. At this parking lot, the sign for the path could be seen.

Parking: Room for 40+ cars, paved parking lots near the trail and one dirt parking lot by the beach access

The trail is free.

Leashed pets are welcome but Wesley stayed home today. I saw a dog happily walking with their person as we were arriving.

The main trail has a wood-chip surface and the loop has a natural surface. The wood-chipped trail was wide enough for me to walk side by side with my husband. I loved the different play and exploration areas that have been included on this trail. I can imagine children really enjoying this area. There were many birds singing this morning which added to the beauty of the trail.

We walked the entire loop for .5 miles. It was mostly level terrain.

A stroller with larger all-terrain wheels would probably navigate this trail without too much difficulty.

We had the trail to ourselves.

I saw trash while on this trail, most notably some toilet paper used by the "nest" area.

Mosquitos were out and active today but the bug spray helped.

This is a trail where shorts would not be a problem if staying on the wood-chipped area. I am happier with long pants, especially on the natural single-file section of the trail.

There is poison ivy and Virginia creeper from the "stage area" and on the loop.

I saw squirrels, chipmunks, mosses, fern, jewelweed, buttercups, spiderwort, and a variety of tree species including mostly big oak, shagbark, maple, hickory, hemlock, and cherry.
